Local tip
To discover even more of the rugged Icelandic nature, we recommend extending your tour with a visit to the Westfjords, one of Iceland's best-kept secrets. Here you find unspoiled nature and true Icelandic wilderness. The Westfjords are the ideal place for spotting birds and arctic foxes in their natural habitats and exploring the dainty sub-arctic flora of Iceland.
On day 4 Take the ferry from Stykkisholmur to Brjánslækur and spend two nights exploring the area. Follow the Westfjords Way (Vestfjarðaleiðin). It will take you through a landscape found nowhere else on earth, along peaceful coasts, through tunnels of all sorts, down steep, dramatic mountain roads, over tiny, charming bridges, and along beaches with sand of all colors. On day 6 continue to Husafell and with the itinerary as described above.
