The festive period in Scandinavia is a special time, so why not celebrate it in a very special place. The ice hotel located in Swedish Lapland is a unique hotel made of snow and ice and has been welcoming guests from all over the world since 1989. We love our Swedish neighbours and we love the uniqueness of the Icehotel. This is a great tour to experience Swedish Lapland in a very different setting.
Itinerary
DAY ONE
Arrival in Stockholm. Accommodation in a hotel in Stockholm city center.
DAY TWO
Enjoy your day at leisure in Stockholm. For the festive season, we recommend a visit to one of the cities’ many Christmas markets. The Christmas markets are open from late November to around the 23rd December.
DAY THREE
The Swedish capital is a vibrant and beautifully situated city, you have the day to visit museums, go shopping or visit one of the cities many attractions. In the late evening, depart by overnight train from Stockholm to Kiruna. The overnight train has a food card/restaurant, and your private cabins are comfortable with your own shower and toilet. Overnight onboard the train in a private sleeping compartment.
DAY FOUR
Transfer from the railway station in Kiruna to the world-famous ICEHOTEL located in Jukkasjärvi. Tonight, you sleep in a cold room, a room made of snow and ice and with temperatures of minus 5. In a thermal sleeping bag, you will be wrapped up warmly, to enjoy a good night’s sleep. Overnight in a cold room.
DAY FIVE
This morning you are awakened with a cup of hot lingon-berry juice at your bedside. After breakfast, a morning sauna and towels await. This afternoon we recommend (optionally) that you try your hand and craft your own Ice Sculpture. For tonight, we suggest a Northern Lights Safari on Snowmobile or a Northern Lights Photography excursion. Accommodation in a warm Kaamos room.
DAY SIX
Breakfast in the main restaurant. We think that no tour to the North is complete, unless you experience a reindeer or husky excursion – or perhaps both. The reindeer excursion is authentic and lasts approximately 4 hours. Our favourite husky excursions are approximately 5 hours and allow time to enjoy the winter wonderland with these amazing animals. Accommodation in warm Kaamos room.
DAY SEVEN
Transfer to Kiruna Airport for your homebound flight.
